Second machine great coffee.
Brian TF· Review provided by keurig.ca · August 22, 2024
This is the second Keurig coffee maker I’ve owned. The first one I used primarily with the reusable filter as I like to grind my own beans and most importantly keep the plastic pods out of the landfill. Making on average two, twelve ounce cups of coffee a day for approximately eight years, it started to fail. Even after regular cleaning and descaling the pump wouldn’t complete a full cycle and I had to run it through the same ground beans a second time using a smaller cup size to make a full twelve ounces. I figured the first Keurig machine worked well through a reasonable period of time with no problems, so I bought a newer model. I’ve been using my new Keurig for a month and because I received free coffee pods from Keurig for registering my machine, I haven’t yet used my own ground coffee in my reusable filter regularly. So far the new machine works as expected, brewing a very fine tasting cup in two minutes and twenty seconds. Yes I timed it several times, it seemed slower than the first machine I had but if you consider the wait time for the water to heat up in the older machine, my new one is actually faster. My new Keurig has a slightly larger, easy to fill reservoir, a sleeker overall design and the programmable feature that lets you dial in the strength, size and temperature of your coffee with a touch of one button is great. Overall so far I’m very satisfied with this machine and with the friendly prompt service from the Keurig company. My only expectations now are, the machine continues to work for at least the same amount of years as my first Keurig and I will find the machine works just as well with the reusable filter so my conscience isn’t always telling me to stop using the plastic pods as they are bad for the environment.
Supremely replaces an oldy-but-goody Keurig

I like that the reservoir is larger than our old K2, but occupies a smaller footprint. Kinda miss the old one’s nightlight and its ability to brew a whole pot, though we rarely used that feature. But being able to now select a larger range of cup capacities, a range of strengths, and hotter than usual temps is pretty nice. The unit hasn’t got a plugged needle yet, like the K2 did and needed flushing every so often, and screwing up a pod brew. The K2 was just acting up too often, stubbornly not recognizing legit pods or stopping with that retort part way through a brew. Otherwise it was a good machine. It augmented, then replaced an 18 month-old top of the line Ninja pot coffeemaker that had a failed digital screen.

This new K-Supreme Plus Smart I think brews a better cup, flavor-wise, temp-wise, and strength-wise, probably due to the multi-needle spray technology. And I don’t have to top up the tank quite as often, plus the tank has a handle the K2 didn’t, and can be carried more easily with one hand. The K2 stayed on longer and was cantankerous about shutting off; this new machine shuts off after a bit, or just hold the big button for a few seconds.

It also displays the pod’s ID and configures that manufacturer’s recommended brew parameters accordingly if you like, or with experience easily modify as you please. For my travel cup I can set max temp and strength for 12oz., but it can still be a bit weaker than I like; there’s only so much flavor that can be squeezed out of a small pod.

I don’t like that I can’t program it to have a hot cup of brew ready in the morning, like we used to with full pot machines. Our K2 could be programmed to turn on at a specific time, although it was kinda funky… coming on at 3 a.m. nightly regardless of the programmed time. But this new one turns on and heats up plenty fast when any button is pressed or a cup is inserted, so making that first cup isn’t much of a wait. I haven’t done much with the associated app, so won’t comment about that feature at this time.

We also got the Keurig foam maker and enjoy making and experimenting with lattes and cappuccinos. A batch of foam is done in the same time as a 4-6oz cup of dark coffee, swirled with flavor syrup. Makes for an easy and great creamy drink to relax with.

I just hope the needles don’t start clogging; cleaning one was annoying enough on the old K2, much less several on this new one. Keurig devised a flusher that cleaned the needles, but pumping the handle repeatedly may have been part of creating that machine’s eventual issues. I don’t see that a flushing device has been made for the K-Supreme, but maybe it’s not necessary.

We love this new machine overall, and are certainly happy to have trouble-free brews again.
Better Tasting Coffee!

Pleasantly surprised! I purchased this K-Supreme Plus SMART model to replace my K-Mini Single Serve. Mostly, I just wanted to have the largest water reservoir Keurig offered in their single-serve units because I'm lazy and got tired of adding water for every cup I brewed. I didn't even really care about the "SMART" features.

As it turns out, I am really happy with the purchase because 1) it has a large water reservoir, 2) I think their MultiStream and BrewID Technology actually makes a difference, and 3) the Smart feature was very easy to set up and I may actually start using it!

As to the MultiStream and BrewID Technology, my coffee seems to taste smoother now. Kinda hard to describe, and fyi I'm no coffee connoisseur, but to me it's a noticeable difference. I haven't tried to use my own custom settings yet because I'm pretty happy with the BrewID settings.

I've used our new Keurig now for about two weeks and so far everything is fine. My only negative is that coffee grounds collect on the four additional needles that pierce the top of your K-cup. I find I need to wipe them off after each use (after making mine and my wife's coffees). If I don't, I'll find a few grounds in my cup. It's not a big deal to us and we just consume our coffee as normal, but I never had this issue with my previous K-Mini unit, which only has the one needle.

All in all I would recommend this unit and would buy another without hesitation (provided this one proves to be reliable in the future).
Nice Coffee Maker with 1 Big Flaw

The coffee maker itself works great. It heats up and dispenses very quickly. I like that I can have the water tank on the side or back (I use side). I love all the different setting options and iced coffee from home is saving me lots of money and works awesome!

The one major flaw could be easily fixed with a software update. Every time you use the Keurig K-Supreme Smart, you have to wait for the Brew ID scanner to run through its scanning process before you can start the coffee making process. This takes like 5-10 seconds every single time. In the morning when I'm making coffee I just want to put in the pod and push start. I end up standing there staring at it while it scans only to go to my own custom favorite configuration anyway. I am not the person who buys lots of different types of coffee and needs the machine to make recommendations for me. Allow me to shut off Brew ID in the app and if I decide to leave it on, allow me to hit a button to skip it while its running. You could also allow it to be disabled but then allow me to push the Brew ID button to start the scan myself. I understand that this feature is innovative and you're trying to get people to use it, but give me the option to bypass and disable it if its an inconvenience for me (which it is). I have heard that you can disconnect the wifi and it will remove it, but that takes away the other features that I actually do want. If it had the option to disable, it would be a 5-star rating all day. Everything else is great.
